Canada Adds 52,000 Jobs

Canada added approximately 52,100 jobs in September, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by Statistics Canada. It added 44,100 full-time jobs and 8,000 part-time jobs.

The Canadian unemployment rate edged up to 7.4 percent in September from 7.3 percent in August.

Ontario added 31,100 jobs in September, following a loss of 24,900 jobs in August. The province added 7,200 full-time jobs and 24,000 part-time jobs. The unemployment rate for the province dipped to 7.9 percent in September compared to 8.0 percent in August.

Alberta posted the lowest jobless rates among all provinces in September at 4.4 percent.
