CIOs to add staff, CFOs' hiring plans flat

June 03, 2008

Chief information officers plan to add staff in the third quarter, but hiring levels will be down from the second quarter, according to a survey released today by Robert Half Technology, part of Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE: RHI). In a separate survey, Robert Half Financial found CFOs' third-quarter hiring plans are flat compared with a year ago.

In the survey of CIOs, 14% said they planned to add information technology staff in the third quarter and 4% planned reductions for a net hiring index of 10%. While hiring continues, that's lower than the net hiring index of 15% for the third quarter of 2007.

The CFO survey found that 6% planned to hire finance and accounting staff in the third quarter while 6% forecast cuts for a net hiring index of zero. That compares to a net hiring index of 3% for the third quarter of 2007.

The surveys questioned more than 1,400 CIOs and more than 1,400 CFOs.
