Chief information officers and chief technical officers have the highest salaries in 2014, according to a new technology salary guide released by Mondo, a New York-based IT and digital marketing staffing provider.

CIOs and CTOs 2014 salaries range from $150,000 to $230,000, according to the report. Beyond the CIO/CTO positions, the technology jobs with the highest salaries in 2014, include:

• Chief security officer: $135,000 to $200,000
• Augmented reality consultant: $70,000 to $175,000
• Application architect: $130,000 to $170,000
• Scala developer: $115,000 to $170,000

The salary ranges show regional differences in salaries, with New York City and San Francisco on the high end and Florida and Dallas on the low end. Highest-demand jobs include big data/cloud positions, with Hadoop and Netezza developers on top, according to Mondo.

Separately, Mondo also reported the contractor hiring trend for technology positions will continue, with 48 percent of hiring managers indicating they plan to hire more contract workers, rather than permanent staff, over the next 12 to 18 months.

The Mondo salary guide is based on roughly 4,000 placements for technology positions in 2014.
