CIBER profit increases 9.3%

First-quarter net income rose 9.3% at information technology services and staffing company CIBER Inc. (NYSE: CBR) to $7.2 million from $6.6 million in the first quarter of last year.

Revenue at the Greenwood Village CO-based firm rose 13.6% in the first quarter to $294.5 million from $259.2 million in the same period in 2007.

Gross margin rose to 27.5% from 27.0%.

First-quarter revenue in the company's commercial division rose 2.2% to $93.2 million, the division includes operations in India. CIBER's first-quarter European division revenue rose 40.2% to $99.8 million. The company includes Asia Pacific results in its European division.

First-quarter revenues in other CIBER divisions include state and local government, up 7.0% to $38.0 million; federal government, down 6.2% to $32.0 million; and U.S. enterprise solutions, up 15.8% to $31.5 million.
