Boeing Case Could Doom Staffing Firm

June 30, 2011

Government legal action against Boeing could force a South Carolina staffing firm out of business, the owner said June 17 during testimony to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The National Labor Relations Board sued Boeing in April, charging that the aircraft manufacturer illegally chose to build an assembly plant in South Carolina to retaliate against unionized Washington state workers.

The Oversight Committee held a hearing in Charleston to gather the facts about the economic impact NLRB’s actions against Boeing could have on South Carolina businesses and families.

“If Boeing is forced to shut down their Charleston operations, it would mean the loss of thousands of direct and indirect jobs in an economy that is barely recovering from the recession,’ said Dunhill Staffing President Neil Whitman. “I don’t know if the small business I created over 10 years ago … would survive.”
