Belgium – Temporary staffing growth strengthens in July after June slowdown

The number of hours worked by temporary workers in Belgium increased by 7.3% in July 2015, compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from Federgon, the Belgian Federation of Staffing Agencies.

This follows increases of 9.7% in April, 16.6% in May, and 4.4% in June compared with the same month last year.

The Belgian staffing market achieved year-on-year growth every month during 2014 and every month so far in 2015.

The number of hours worked by blue-collar workers increased by 6.1% compared with July 2014, while white-collar temporary workers also worked 8.8% more hours.

Compared with June 2015, the number of hours worked by temporary workers in July increased by 1.3%. The number of hours worked by blue-collar workers increased by 1.4%, month-on-month while the number of hours worked by white-collar workers increased by 1.2%.

The Federgon Index was 240.5 points in July 2015, up from 237.3 points in June. The index is used as an indicator of the level of activity each month in comparison with the 100 index points in January 1995 when the index was launched.
