Staffing firms reported mixed trends in demand for labor, according to the U.S. Federal Reserve Beige Book report released Wednesday. Federal Reserve Districts in New York, Richmond VA, and Chicago said staffing agencies reported softening in demand. The Cleveland and Dallas district, however, said agencies reported some pickup in demand.

Overall, U.S. employment levels appeared little changed from recent months, and economic conditions appeared to have weakened since the last Beige Book report on March 5, according to the report.
