Beige Book finds increased demand for temps

July 29, 2010

Temporary employment services reported increased demand in several Federal Reserve districts, according to the Federal Reserve Beige Book report released Wednesday.

Those districts reporting increased demand for temporary workers included Philadelphia, Atlanta, Richmond, Chicago and Minneapolis.

In addition, the Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco districts reported employers continue to rely on temporary staff over permanent hires.

Wage pressure was reported as contained across most districts.

Overall, economic activity has increased since the last Beige Book report in June, although the Cleveland and Kansas City districts reported the level of economic activity held steady.
