Beige Book: Staffing Demand Rises

Demand for staffing continued to rise, according to the new Federal Reserve Beige Book report released Wednesday.

Increases in demand for staffing were reported in the New York; Philadelphia; Richmond, Va.; and Chicago Federal Reserve districts.

The New York district reported increased demand for staffing firms in the legal and financial sectors. The Dallas district reported a steady demand for workers in the professional, technical, healthcare and finance fields.

Total U.S. economic activity expanded moderately from November through December, according to the Beige Book. And labor markets, overall, appeared to be "firming somewhat in most districts" amid modest hiring, the Beige Book reported There was limited upward pressure on wages.
