Average Hourly Earnings Slip

August 18, 2011

Real average hourly earnings for all employees edged down 0.1 percent in July from June, seasonally adjusted, to $10.26, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The decline was due to a 0.5 percent increase in the consumer price index for all urban consumers.

Year over year, real average hourly earnings fell 1.3 percent from $10.39 in July 2010, seasonally adjusted.
