Attorneys rank networking higher than staffing

Almost half of attorneys ranked networking as the most effective way to find a legal job in a survey by Robert Half Legal, a division of Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE: RHI). The survey of 300 attorneys found that 48% said networking or referral by a friend or peer as the best way to find a job. The second-most effective way was through a staffing or placement firm at 16%.

Other methods ranked by attorneys include internship/clerkship, 13%; law school recruiting program, 8%; contacting law firms or companies that interest a job candidate, 8%; Internet job boards, 5%; classified ads, 1%; and other, 1%.
