American Staffing Association index flat

April 02, 2008

The American Staffing Association's index measuring temporary employment was at 100 in March, up from February's reading of 99. The ASA said the index made some gains but remained relatively flat since the beginning of the year as demand for temps appeared to hold steady amid economic uncertainties.

The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract employees both weekly and monthly. The monthly change is calculated using data from the week that includes the 12th day of the month. Its baseline value of 100 was set in June 2006.
