All metro areas set for job growth this year, US Conference of Mayors forecast finds

June 19, 2015

2015 will mark the first year all 363 metro areas will see job growth since the economic recovery began, according to a new economic forecast released by the US Conference of Mayors and prepared by ISH Global Insight. The forecast also projects 316 metros, 87%, will see job growth greater than 1.0%, with only 47 areas, 13%, experiencing job growth of 1.0% or less.

However, the forecast found a significant number of metros still have to regain jobs lost in the recession. At the start of 2015, 164 metros, 64%, had returned to their previous, pre-recession peak levels of employment. By year-end 2015, 199 metros, 55%, will have re-gained their peak numbers of jobs.

The forecast release coincides with the mayor’s annual conference held this weekend in San Francisco. To view the report and employment growth by metro, click here.
