Administrative workers gain responsibilities

March 19, 2008

Administrative support workers' responsibilities have expanded, according to a survey released by OfficeTeam, a division of Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE: RHI). In the survey of executives, 50% said administrative professionals' responsibilities increased somewhat over the last five years, while 23% of executives said they increased significantly.

"Efficiencies created by technological advancements have allowed administrative assistants to take on a wider range of tasks, including managing budgets, negotiating vendor contracts, overseeing projects, and maintaining Web sites," said Dave Willmer, executive director of OfficeTeam.

The survey also found that 57% of executives said administrative assistants have more of a career growth track than five years ago.
