Adecco to lay off 154 in North American headquarters move

June 04, 2014

Adecco’s relocation of its headquarters operations will result in layoff notices for 154 staff, the company reported in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed yesterday with the New York State Department of Labor. The WARN filing is required by employers to provide notice 60 days advanced of a plant closing or mass layoff.

The layoffs will occur in phases between Aug. 29 and Dec. 31.

Adecco in March announced plans to consolidate its North American headquarters operations in 2014 and move most corporate departments currently based in Melville, N.Y., to its existing corporate support facility in Jacksonville, Fla.

The number of service center and IT colleagues that will stay in Melville is larger than Adecco originally anticipated, according to a company spokesperson. The firm initially thought it would be about 250 workers, but that number will now fall somewhere between 250 and 300. Adecco also is in discussion with about 20 colleagues who have committed to or are seriously considering a move to Jacksonville.
