ASA Staffing Index Continues Climb

May 25, 2011

Staffing industry employment in the U.S. in May rose 2 percent from April and was up 6 percent compared to May 2010, according to American Staffing Association’s monthly staffing employment index released yesterday.

The index reading for May is 94, up two points from April’s reading of 92.

The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract workers both weekly and monthly. Its baseline value of 100 was set in June 2006. Staffing employment is typically lowest during the first few months of each year and grows throughout the subsequent months, the ASA said.
