AMN appoints VP of education and professional advancement

August 21, 2014

AMN Healthcare Services Inc. (NYSE: AHS), the largest U.S. healthcare staffing firm, hired Dr. Brenda Fischer as vice president of education and professional advancement. She will spearhead the Center for Professional Advancement.

Fischer joined AMN in January as a consultant to develop strategy for education programs aimed at new roles needed in the health system. In her new position, Fischer is responsible for AMN’s strategies related to clinician education and training, including consulting with clients to identify emerging workforce needs.

Prior to joining AMN, Fischer founded the Center for Nursing Excellence, a think tank and action center at Palomar Health.

“Brenda brings a balanced entrepreneurial, academic and service perspective with an energized outcomes focus,” said Chief Clinical Officer Marcia Faller. “She has successfully developed collaborative thinking partnerships with the goal of advancing comprehensive transformation in healthcare.”

Fischer in May was appointed a commissioner for the Commission on Accreditation of the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She also serves on the committee of the American Organization of Nurse Executives that develops the organization’s three-year strategic plan.
