ADP report: U.S. lost 473,000 jobs in June

The U.S. lost 473,000 private-sector nonfarm jobs between May and June on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the National Employment Report released today by Automatic Data Processing Inc. (NYSE: ADP). It also revised downward its estimate of jobs lost in the previous month to 485,000 from 532,000.

Monthly job losses in April, May and June averaged 492,000, according to the report. That's lower than the report's estimated average monthly job loss of 691,000 in the first three months of the year.

In June, the ADP report estimated service-sector jobs fell by 223,000 while goods-producing sector employment declined by 250,000.
