ADP report - U.S. loses 250,000 jobs

The U.S. lost 250,000 private-sector nonfarm jobs from October to November on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the national employment report released today by Automatic Data Processing Inc. (NYSE: ADP).

In the goods-producing sector, 158,000 jobs were lost in November, according to the report. And the service sector shed 92,000 jobs.

The report also revised the number of jobs lost from September to October to 179,000 from the previous decrease of 157,000.

Data in the ADP report is derived from an anonymous subset of roughly 500,000 U.S. business clients.
