The U.S. lost an estimated 169,000 private-sector nonfarm jobs in November on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to Automatic Data Processing Inc.'s (NYSE: ADP) monthly national employment report released today. November represented the eighth consecutive month of declining job losses.

The manufacturing sector's decline of 44,000 jobs in November was the smallest monthly decrease since May 2008, according to the report.

Overall, service-sector employment fell by 81,000, and employment in the goods-producing sector declined by 88,000.

The report also raised the estimate of jobs lost in October to 203,000 from 195,000.

Data in the ADP report is derived from an anonymous subset of roughly 500,000 U.S. business clients.
