ADP: Franchises add 12,300 jobs

Private-sector franchise jobs increased by 12,300 in July, down from 27,910 jobs added in June, according to the ADP National Franchise Report, which measures monthly changes in franchise employment. July’s franchise job increase was below the six-month average of 18,740 jobs.

Restaurants added 2,980 jobs — well below the six-month average of 8,810 — followed by business services with 2,010 jobs and auto parts and dealers with 1,680 jobs. Professional services lost 1,620 jobs and manufacturing lost 20 jobs.

ADP produced the report in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics Inc. The report is derived from ADP payroll data, which represents 15,000 franchisors and franchisees employing nearly 1 million workers in the United States.
