85% of Medical Sales Job-Seekers Use Social Networks

January 13, 2012

Some 85 percent of medical sales job-seekers use social networking sites for professional purposes and one in four said social network sites led them to a job, according to the 2011 Social Networking Survey Report released today by MedReps.com, a medical job platform owned and operated by Healthcare Staffing Technologies, a member of the Jackson Healthcare family.

Of more than 350 medical sales job-seekers surveyed, 94 percent said they belonged to at least one social network, a slight increase from the 89 percent who claimed to be social network members in 2009.

The medical sales job-seekers prefer LinkedIn, according to the survey. Eighty-seven percent of respondents now have a LinkedIn profile, an increase from 56 percent in 2009. Seventy-six percent belong to Facebook. Twitter held a distant third place with 16% of respondents claiming to use the site.
