PeopleScout announced it signed a deal to provide recruitment process outsourcing services to United Road, a Romulus MI-based logistics firm that transports cars, trucks and other vehicles. United Road transports more than 1.8 million vehicles each year, according to the company's Web site.


National Staffing Employee Week this week

This week is National Staffing Employee Week, the American Staffing Association announced. In addition, it named Debby Johnson as national staffing employee of the year.

MDT buys 37th largest staffing firm

MDT Personnel LLC, based in Doylestown PA, acquired the operations of AbleHQ, including industrial staffing provider Able Body Labor. AbleHQ ranked No. 37 on Staffing Industry Analysts list of largest U.S. staffing firms.

The transaction took effect Sept. 1. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Canada gained 35,800 jobs in August for a total of approximately 17.22 million jobs but the unemployment rate edged up to 8.1% from 8.0% in July as more people entered the workforce, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by Statistics Canada.
